romantic 50th birthday trip
My husband wants to take me on a 3 night trip for my 50th birthday in early December. We live in Virginia and do not want to spend all of our time flying. Any suggestions? Thanks

I guess it depends on what you consider romantic. Are you a beach person? A country inn type person?
favorite b & b in va.

Savannah is another idea.
If you want beach, Fla., Caribbean?

Where are you traveling from and how far do you want to go?
Romantic? Go to Savannah. Stay at the Ballastone Inn in a four poster bedded room with a fireplace filled with antiques. Let them bring breakfast to your room. Enjoy the praline and brandy by your bed at night.
Nearer the West Coast? There are dozens of places in Carmel or in the wine country which would offer the same type of romantic atmosphere.

It is not cheap, but being from VA I can tell you the Inn at Little Washington is a wonderful place

If too expensive try some of the Inn's on rt 50 between upperville and middleburg -
of course where in VA are you -- you would spend more time driving in VA then flying across the country (vegas is a 5 hr flight)

Thanks for all the great suggestions. We have been to many of these most especially The Inn At Little Washington. It is so incredible. We have been 3 times but all in the Winter. We plan on going back for an anniversary in May. We are now thinking The Greenbrier or Keswick Hall. Anyone been to Keswick? For a trip with a plane ride involved, would the weather in San Francisco in early December be too cold for sightseeing/views? Any suggestions there? Also, we are considering Little Palm Island in the Keys. Any thoughts? Thanks a bunch.
