Rogue or Umpqua River options - help!
I'm planning a week on either the Rogue or Umpqua River in August, camping, hiking, and I hope a raft trip. Any suggestions for campgrounds, hiking trails, and reliable and safe raft guides would be MUCH appreciated!

The State of Oregon has wonderful packets of info for visitors. However, there's not enough time now, so here's one website I found:
http://www.rogueweb.com/rogueriv/
Also, I suggest you use the excellent Search Engine "google" at:
http://www.google.com
Enter your search phrase, something like: oregon camping; or, oregon umpqua river and you will find several websites to visit.
Lastly, just type in your Address Line, http://www.oregon.gov -- or, .org and you should get back the official Oregon website which will also have an entire section on tourism of all kinds.

Rosemary--Sorry to mislead you! I don't think Morrison's actually has camping........I was mentioning them more along the lines of excellent guides/rafting trips on the river. However, there is a camping spot just a few miles upriver from them which, unfortunately, I don't remember the name, but I'm sure Morrison's could supply the name. If you wish to eat there one night, I do think they take reservations for dinner. But again--they are excellent guides having been on the Rogue for many years. We've done both their day trip as well as their 3 day trip and would recommend both.

The guy who bad mouths the great state of Oregon (so we have rednecks, so what this place is beautiful!) reminds me of that crank who keeps showing up for years on the travel usa newsgroup who constantly bad mouths New mexico and has a hate New Mexico web site. About the only think the guy above web page is right about is that Oregonians don't like Californicators...but then no one seems to in any other state west of Iowa.
