I inadevertently sent this message to the Tennessee Board, so I will try again.
Heading to the Rockport- Port Aransas area over Christimas. My motivation to go there is birding, but my wife is less keen. However, she likes to walk, and/or hike. Any suggestions for this area. Also, any suggestions for not expensive accomodation would also be appreciated. Thanks

thor: just an FYI - picking the state while typing in your question doesn't "send" it to that particular "state's board." The US board shows all the states as one.

Rockport is pretty small from what I understand. I think there will be beach type hiking available but I'm guessing there may not be many "official" trails. Birding however is supposed to be wonderful. Anyone else?

My husband is from Rockport...so I will ask him about the birding and try to get back to you...there are tons of hotels...Holiday Inn and Ramada Inn...and some small hole in the wall ones..you should be able to find something. For eats...definitley hit The Boiling Pot for dinner and the Duck Inn for breakfast. Rockport isn't that exciting but it is a cute little town...your wife should like it.
