I was flabbergasted when I picked up a copy of The Village Voice this morning -- much more a "locals" paper than a tourist one. It listed Rocco's among it few restaurant suggestions and described it as "surprisingly good" among other compliments. It also mentions that there is a banner outside which says, "the cameras have left the building" or something like that.

Watching it with my husband who happens to also be a chef/restauranteur, he doesn't think the restaurant is bad. Firstly, he points out that NBC only shows 44 minutes of tape for each 10-12 hours that they shoot. Second, Rocco has had enormous sucess and has proven he is talented with Union Pacific, and thirdly, the sequence of the final cut is not in sequence with when events occured. Example; something is going on the begining of the shift, the next shot is in the dining room and it is dark outside. As stated, the producers were extremely creative with editing.

no one would be discussing this program if the opening had gone well...there would have been no"hook."
As I think the last thing NY needs is another red sauce restaurant, I have no desire to eat at Rocco's but would be interested to hear of someone who has actually eaten there in the past week. LMF
