road trip....philly to pittsburg

Hi guys....does anyone know many miles separates Philly from Pittsburgh? I am planning to surprise a pregnant friend from college in three weeks....I have a conference in Philly and she lives in Pittsburgh. How long would the drive be? I don't drive but a colleague at work will drive me since he hasn't been to Pittsburgh as well.

Thanks!!

Thank you!!!

It's over 300 miles between the two cities, so you're talking a five-hour drive at least. Flying would be easier and cost-effective in my book-- would that be an option?

To find out exactly, just go to Mapquest, type in the two addresses and it will calculate the mileage and estimate the time for you. I've driven NJ to Pitt, it's about 5 hours, but not a bad drive at all (PA Turnpike the whole way).

I don't think flying will be a better option. It's unlikely there are direct flights. DH had to fly Newark to DC to Pitt and it took him longer to fly there than it took me to drive!!

Good luck!

Really??? Oh gawd....I didn't realize it was that far away. Thanks, flying is definitely a far better option than driving 5 hours!!

Oh dear....perhaps I should just send her a huge basket of flowers and scratch the surprise face-to-face visit.

tpatricco: PHL and PIT are both US Air hubs, so I'm pretty sure there are still non-stops (regional jets, if I'm not mistaken) between the two cities.

Btw, SWA service doesn't begin until May 4 in PIT and right now the fare is 29.00 one way/ non-stop to PHL.
