Road to Hana

Can anyone please tell me if the road after Ohe'o Gulch has opened, really want to go but not sure I want to come back the same way. Your help is appreciated.

I'm not sure how far it went. We went as far as Lindberg's grave before we turned around.

We went to the bridge beyond Oheo Gulch that is barricaded to vehicles and could not reach Kaupo or the unpaved road section.

Believe this blocked bridge is beyond Oheo Stables and just before you reach the view of the Ocean.

Vehicles were also parked on the opposite (Kaupo) side of the bridge and likewise could not reach Oheo.

I read somewhere that it probably won't be open again until sometime in 2009.

If you really need something to tide you over try County Rd 340 on the northwest side. It sounds about the same which is a little more than a paved goat path that takes you through Kahakuloa Village. Be sure and read the fine print on your rental agreement before venturing out.

hulajake makes a good point! That trip just as memorable to me as the Hana Road trip all the way around, just not as long.
