Ritz Naples, Ritz Palm Beach or The Breakers?
We're a couple in our early 30s looking to take a last trip before our baby arrives in January. I'm looking for some R&R on a beach in a luxury setting and good dining options, either on-site or nearby (short drive OK). I've never been to Naples or Palm Beach - are the beaches much like South Beach, which is my only Florida point of reference? Of these three hotels, which provides the best "luxury" experience?

I live near the PB Ritz and can tell you they just finished a renovations and added a 2nd pool. The lobbies are more 'elegant casual' beach themed than the previous dark wood stuffy. I feel it's 'casual elegant' and think it's nice. HTH

The beach at the Breakers is pretty non-existent. Seriously, it's about 10 feet wide on a good day. And generally very rough. I think the Ritz beach is a bit better, but there are no restaurants nearby (it's really not in Palm Beach). The Ritz in Naples has a great beach, and the water is generally very calm. If you go to Naples, you have to take a drive up to Brewsters for some ice cream - my fave is the homemade apple pie ice cream.
If you go in November, the hotels should be pretty empty. It's a great time to go. The water is still very warm, but the air temp has cooled off a bit from the horrible summer temps (even October is still pretty hot).

I've been to all three. I love the Breakers because it is such a beautiful hotel, but the Ritz in Naples is probably best all around. They have a nice beach, great food, nice rooms, and great spa. Have fun!

OP here - I Should have mentioned that we're looking to go over Labor Day weekend. I know it's hot in Florida in August, but we're used to the heat and humidity. That said, is the weather any better (i.e., fewer afternoon showers) in Naples than it is in SE Florida?

I can't remember everything I put in the above mentioned trip report, but at the highest point of high tide the beach is small, but other than that , I could walk to the right or left, and I usually chose the left and walked for well over 30 minutes before turning around to go back to Breakers beach, but at several points the beach is 'slanted' but all the better for the leg muscles ! - But no, it is not a walking beach like Marco Island - but Breakers sure fit my bill for R & R and everything to make it a perfect chilling spot - cold drinks delivered to my lounge chair on the beach, the infinity pool...everything - take a lot at my report - and yes, we are returning next May !
