Ritz Carlton Washington
Thinking of staying at the Ritz Carlton on 22nd St. NW (Foggy Bottom) in Washington D.C. 08/16-08/17/02.
Any thoughts/experiences you could share about this hotel would be greatly appreciated. This is a very special trip for my husband and me... Thanks for any advice you could offer!

I have not stayed at DC Ritz, but have stayed at manyothers and am an avid fan. One suggestion is finding out how much extra a concierge level room is. They are usually only about 50 dollars more and it is well worth it. The room is typically the same, but you havea key to a private lounge where five meal and beverage courses are presented daily. They do great hor devours and cocktails before dinner, to-die-for dessserts and after dinner cognacs after dinner, a very nice continental style breakfast, a nice lunch (including wine, champagne, drinks of choice), and an afternoon tea. It is well worth the extra money. It is so much nicer than I ever imagined, and very special and elite.

Jennifer,
Loved it. We were there the last weekend in June. Our suite was huge at a great rate breakfast include. It was a prime location for shopping, and dining but, we took a cab to the monuments although it could be walked. The service, staff, food, and accommodations were all top notch! The only complaint I have is the fire station right across the street... they are very busy! Have a great trip.

Thanks for the replies... We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Buckhead (Atlanta area) last year at a great rate that included breakfast (I think the special at that time was $185) and it was indeed lovely. We were surprised that it wasn't "snootier", we felt quite comfortable there.
Can't quite swing the Concierge level, I'm just pleased we'll be spending two nights there (I hear the turndown is very nicely done as well).
Oh, and thank you to Tiffany for telling me a bit about the area of the Ritz/Washington -- we're glad because the restaurants and shopping are a big plus. And a firehouse right nearby, hmm? Well, I'm looking on the bright side of that!
The two previous nights of our trip in D.C. are going to be spent at the Loews L'Enfant -- right near The Mall, and we're concentraing on siteseeing for those two days.
Thanks again for the posts.
