Linda, I found it. You had it spelled right the first time. It's actually N. Pelham Rd, not St. The mapping software is picky.

You're in a great location. That's a great neighborhood and you have excellent access to Piedmont Ave (for quick access Midtown, Downtown or to Buckhead), and Virginia Highlands (restaurants, shops, bars) is a short drive through your neighborhood.

You're a stone's throw from Ansley Mall - a pretty ugly yet useful shopping center with a Publix and a Kroger.

You will have to rely on your cars though. Atlanta is definitely a car oriented city. The only exception is a bus that heads down Piedmont to Downtown if anyone in your household will be working downtown.

You've picked a great place to live. I'd be much more concerned with the renovations you'll be doing. I've had friends live through horror stories of contractors going under during the renovations. In Georgia, you're responsible for paying the sub-contractors if the contractor goes bankrupt. Be sure your contractor is financially sound.

Welcome to Atlanta.

Thanks for the information! It's nice to finally hear some good things about Atlanta. So many people are down on the city due to the traffic..I live in Chicago so I'm pretty used to it! I am actually excited about the warm weather, being close to beaches (vs. a lake) and actually being able to afford a house vs. a condo. Any ideas on clubs (is their an Atlanta Social Club) or anything like that? We play volleyball, like to golf and run a lot...Thanks again for your advice!

Traffic is a huge problem in Atlanta - but not for those of us who live in town. So many people love to complain about how bad traffic is, but they also choose to live 30 miles from downtown and commute in. If you guys are working intown, you won't find the traffic a problem (except for the pollution).

I'm not really that knowlegable on clubs, but the biggest one, I forget its name, is more of a social club for young singles than a true sports club.

There will be plenty of young people jogging through your neighborhood everyday after work, and I think there are even organized running clubs in Virginia Highlands. Sorry I can't help you more with this.
