Restaurants: Stowe VT & Woodstock VT area

Any on your must do list?
5 days in area this month. We'll try anything but simply NOT INTO FISH.
(Love American, French, Brazilian, Greek, Chinese.)
We normally choose casual & quiet & restful, (though if there's live music anything could go!)
$? Open from cheap to fairly expensive (whatever that means!?)
Cheers

The Green Mountain Inn and the Foxfire Inn in Stowe both have excellent restaurants.

GMI is right in town and the Foxfire is on Rt. 100, a mile or two north of town.

Stop at Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory in Waterbury as you drive north to Stowe.

Cold Hollow Cider Mill is also on the way to Stowe from the interstate.

Michael's on the Hill is good.

Simon Pierce in Quechee (just east of Woodstock) is considered the best in that area - great food in a beautiful setting. For something very different, there is the Angor Watt Cambodian place at the east end of Woodstock. It's a tiny, casual byob restaurant with some interesting menu items. Bently's is also fun.

There is (was) a good Caribbean-style restaurant on the main street in Woodstock, but I can't recall the name of it.

Michaels on the Hill or Hen of the Wood in Waterbury, just south of Stowe.

I like Bentley's in Woodstock. It was one of the filming locations of one of my favorite movies, Ghost Story (1981).

There is a relatively new restaurant/pub in Waterbury that is supposed to have very good pizza. The Blue Stone

If you are interested in beer, try to get some Heady Topper which is brewed in Waterbury

Just north of downtown Stowe is a few blocks of restaurants. Charlie's was nice. Varied menu. Moderate price. We had the roasted chicken.
