Restaurants In The Area of The 45 Bleecker Theater

We will be getting out of the theater, in the East Village, on Bleecker between Broadway and Lafayette on Sat. night May 24 at 7:30PM. Any suggestions for good restaurants within fairly easy walking distance. We like everything but Indian. Open to all types and prices, food and service are our main considerations. Thanks.

P.S. I neglected to say that we do have names of restaurants in that area, and are leaning towards Prune or Clinton 21. What I'm looking for is personal favorites and preferences between the above two. Not the Second Ave. Deli .... absolutely the worst rye bread that we have ever eaten.

Le Tableau or Lavagne, both on E. 6th st between A & B. After dinner go across the street to Le Gamin or cappucino.

Thanks MFNYC for the 'food for thought'.

Also, since posting I found some recent online reviews on 71 Clinton. The older reviews were of course very positive, but the newer ones said that the food and service had changed since Wiley left for DF-50. Has anyone eaten there recently?

my personal favorite in that area is Kelly and Ping, just across Houston on Greene. Great Thai.

FUnny you read that about 71 clinton. I ate there a couple of years ago and was very disappointed. The place was so uncomfortable, we were jammed in there. The portions were miniscule. Ther service was luke warm. For all the trouble it was to get a reservation along with the price of a meal, it was not worth it. For whatever reason it's an 'in' place but I think it's over-rated. There are so many nice places around, who needs it.

MFNYC, Actually 71 Clinton was on my 'maybe' list for our trip last year. We obviusly never got there, so I thought that since we were going to be in the area anyway, why not check it out. With your opinion, and the recent readers opinions, I think we will pass. La Tableau's reviews and their web site looked promising. I also check out Kelly and Ping.

All suggestions welcome, choices and indecision are a big part o my daily life ;-)
