Restaurants in Ohio Amish Country

Will be taking out visiting family in Ohio Amish country after Thanksgiving. What are the best places to eat in the area?

I personally like the Inn at Honey Run in Millersburg.

I live in Amish Country and there are many good places. Last time I ate at Inn at Honey Run, the food was not up to par, but it's a nice setting. My personal favorite is Der Dutchman in Walnut Creek. Their all you can eat buffet on Weds. evenings, can't be beat.
Dutch Valley, a sister restaurant in Sugarcreek, is also good w/ a slightly different buffet on Thurs. evenings. of course, you can also order off the menu.
Happy Eating!!

Ate at Alpine-Alpa Wednesday before Thanksgiving with wife and three kids. Alpine-Alpa is three miles outside Wilmot. The kids were mesmerized by the 1) train overhead making its rounds along the ceiling paneling 2) 25 cents a play mechanical Swiss band and 3) the moving cows and cowherder. The food was plain and tasty and there is a nice salad bar. My 3 year old daughter downed 30 grape tomatoes. The young lady who seated us was practically bursting out of her tight skirt. One wrong move and .... The establishment does not comply to Menonite sensibilites.

Bill,
IMHO it's the Amish Door hands down. I definitely prefer it to Alpine-
Alpa and Der Dutchman. I suspect that there are probably several lesser known places that are better but among the more well known, the Amish Door is the best. I am having a brain cramp but I think that it is just outside of Wilmot. Good luck.

Bill-Just about anywhere you stop to eat in Amish country you'll enjoy a delicious meal. Personal favorites are the Amish Door (check their menu out at www.amishdoor.com) in Wilmot, Ohio and The Homestead Restaurant in Charm, Ohio. The Amish Door has an upstairs gift shop and bakery attached. Wherever you eat, same room for dessert!

I and my family love the Dutch Essenhaus near Goshen. Lots of nice shops on the well-kept grounds and small playground for children while waiting for a table. Put name in and walk the grounds...your name will be announced outside and in the shops.

While the Zoar Tavern is great, is it in Amish country?

While the Zoar Tavern may not be in
"Amish Country" it is close enough for me. Matter of fact it is my headquarters when I visit Amish Country. I can stay overnight at the inn, get up early and drive to Berlin or Sugarcreek in 20 minutes or so. I can be there for a nice early breakfast, shop and sight see, and be back at the Zoar Tavern and Inn before the hoards of bus people show up in Amish Town
