Restaurants in Arlington/Crystal City

Staying at Holiday Inn National Crystal City - looking for good/casual restaurants you can walk to at night - Going 4/5-4/9. Any suggestions?

Check out 23rd Street. (That's the street name, not a restaurant.) It's a mini-restaurant row. Cafe Italia is a good Italian restaurant. Stars and Stripes for burgers and such.

23rd Street, from deep in Crystal City up about five blocks has a lot of restaurants. My favorite is Kabob Palace, one of the best Middle Eastern restaurants in DC.

You might also consider a short Metro ride to the King Street Station in Alexandria. King Street has plenty of restaurants, all within 5 to 6 blocks of the Metro station.

There are two Thai restaurants on 23rd Street. Top Thai Restaurant is our favorite. It was Mrs. Budman's first Thai experience, and ever since, it's been Thai in England, Germany, Ireland, Hawaii, Switzerland, Italy, yada, yada, yada.

There are a lot of restaurants on 23rd Street -- 2 blocks from the Holiday Inn. Also, there is Legal Seafood on the other side of the highway from all the others.

Take a short (inexpensive) cab ride to King & Washington in Old Town Alexandria, and walk towards the river. Lots shops, restaurants, and a nice evening out. The Metro is not convenient from the Holiday Inn, in my opinion.

There are also some decent restaurants in the Pentagon Mall. Check with the hotel about using the hotel shuttle to getting there and back.

A Jaleo and Oyamel are on the same side of Jeff Davis Highway (Route 1 -- the highway Budman mentioned) as Legal Seafood. Both are small plates - Jaleo is Spanish and Oyamel Mexican, both are very good. 23rd St is fun to browse and pick, most places are good -- we like the Vietnamese place.

I don't particularly care for the places at Pentagon City Mall but as suggested, Alexandria has some good spots.
