Renaissance Charleston Hotel?
Has anyone actually stayed here? It is supposed to be new(which I always think is a plus when staying at a hotel)and looked nice on its website. Am torn between this and Charleston Place. I know Charleston Place has beautiful public areas and suites but we would just be getting a standard room so maybe a new hotel would be better. Any advice? Thanks

I'm actually staying there this weekend. My wife and I are going for a quick weekend getaway (Charleston's only a 3 1/2 hour drive for us). I know it's been a while since your post. Have you been to stay either at the Renaissance or Charleston Place since your original post?

Michele,
I haven't stayed at the Renaissance, but I have stayed at the Charleston Place in a standard room. They are very nice. Though not huge, they are a comfortable size so you won't be bumping into each other while putting clothes away. There is also a kind of little foyer at the room door that's well lit with a large mirror. The rooms are nicely decorated in black and yellow with french toile. The baths have dual sinks - very handy for couples and the staff is suberb, responsive and friendly. The concierge is very helpful and knowledgable. They can really make you're sightseeing trips easy and enjoyable. This hotel constitently gets high marks year after year and not just for its suites and public areas.

It's probably too late for whomever was asking, but we stayed at the Renaissance over New Year's. Very nice accomodations, wonderful service. Good location between Meeting and King St. Be sure to visit Jestine's restaurant (corner of Wentworth and Meeting St.) Great food at very inexpensive prices.
