I vote dallas though. Better city planning. Drier air. Nice people both places, too dallas is a lot smaller than houston. The equivalence is when houston is compared to d/fw. Dallas, mid cities, and Fort Worth. Which ft worth is nice too. But I like houston too. Don't know Phoenix.

Have you tested the job market in GIS is those cities ??. . I would expect your best chances of landing a job in your field would be in Houston. Austin is a nice place to live, but no Oil company presence. I have friends in Houston who live inside the loop without a car and they have no issues with the Houston public transportation . . and it will only get better when the east west rail line is finished

I was going to suggest Austin..Dallas has limited public transit depending on where you live.

Would be interested to hear how you got on. Any feedback on job market in each city?

Also considering a potential move down south to escape the bitter cold winters, and these cities are on my list.

Just so you know... Summers are pretty brutal here in Dallas - I puld not want to be relying on public transit and being outside in 105 degrees...

Just food for thought. Depending on what you do - I think the job market here is decent. Cost of housing is great too!
