Like i said before, we don't mind being near a train station and actually almost prefer it since we do want to head into Philadephia as much as possible and in case my job search lands me there.

I am in Hatboro, and the train station I live next to is in walking distance of that rental. Now, even though they are calling it Hatboro, I would have called it Upper Moreland, although the delineation is kind of fuzzy.

There probably are units available in my building, actually, but I'm pretty sure they don't allow dogs, and we really are ON TOP of the station. And while perfectly safe, a little run down right around the tracks and the station.

Blue Bell/Ambler might be a little more convenient for you, actually, although Hatboro/Horsham might not be bad, and I admit some partiality to Hatboro.

Thanks so much for all of the info. I will certainly look into things a lot more this weekend.

Another vote for Chesnut Hill. Especially if you wind up working in Center City.
Quicker commute.

If she doesn't wind up working in Phila., then living in Chestnut Hill would have them paying the Phila. city wage tax. If she works in Phila, they'll be paying it anyway.

For a young couple without kids, I think you might feel like there's not enough going on in most of the suburbs. Depending on your financial situation, if you can afford the Philly wage tax, I'd recommend expanding your search into Philly itself - MANY neighborhoods will get you a very nice apartment for that amount. Maybe not Chestnut Hill, but if not, then just a couple minutes south of there is Mount Airy, also in Philly, where I'm sure you could find something.

If you do go with suburb, I vote Ambler for sure.
