Reliable Vegas Info
Where does one go to find reliable Vegas information? I read through all the posting here, I have gone on several sites recommended here (cheapovegas, a2zlasvegas, and several others) as well as the information on fodor's and frommer's. But so much of it seems contradictory. Hotels and the such you read good things about on the travel sites can really be dogged by the people who post here. Have the people who post here really stayed at the places they are commenting about? I have noticed a segment of people who want only higher end places who seem to down everything that isn't. Also when a question is asked about a specific place, so many posters will answer by recommending another place without ever saying if they know anything about the place asked about. With all this information on-line who is a person to believe?

Try www.lvol.com - it's a great site. Also, they have a message board with loads of info. from all the Vegas junkies.

I think the key is to listen to "why" certain people don't like certain places and then judge for yourself. For example, someone might say "Mandalay Bay rules over Bellaggio because the wave pool and lazy river at Mandalay are awesome". If I don't plan on using the pool while I'm there, I can guess that I would like Bellaggio more than the poster did. I'm not trying to over simplify or be patronizing but you can't rely on posts that say one place sucks but not "why?"
I know NYC quite well and read many of the posts and a lot of people beat down places that I like but sometimes they do it with valid reason and you just have to find out what the reasons are. Different people like different things, you have to be able to separate the info from the opinions.
Also, ask more specific questions and you will get the answers you need. For example "I'm going to Vegas for x # days with wife who likes xyz and I like xyz. While we're there we plan on doing xyz and have budgeted $xxx for hotel for x days. We plan on spending xx% of our time hanging out in the room and the rest doing whatever. We want to be close to location x. Which hotel would you recommend?"

You want good info on Vegas? You can not get better info than Vegaswatch.com.
I like the Fodors forum, VW is mosly info about Vegas and the way the forum is setup is awesome. You have to register to post, but you can read and browse w/o registering. I love that site. Great info and informative people. I have yet to see any bashing of posters(prob 'cause you have to register to post).
Your welcome everyone.

Go to the busy message boards for realiable info from experienced travelers. I found it is true the ones mentioned previously, the vegaswatch.com and lvoll.com boards to be excellent sources of info. Both seem real good to get all your questions answered.

There has never been a hotel in the world that didn't have some unhappy guests. There has never been a restaurant where some people weren't disatisfied with the food or the service. Some people like O better than Mystere. Some people like Mystere better than O, and even thought O was "stupid". These are, as mentioned above, opinions. There is no definitive answer with opinions.
Are you surprised that people who like only high end places would not rave about a low end price? Or that a person on a low budget who can't or doesn't want to splurge on an expensive place wouldn't say that the expensive place isn't worth it? You must also learn to "read betweem the lines".
