Regent Beverly Wilshire question (L.A.)

I'm hoping someone who has stayed at the hotel will be able to answer my question. I have the opportunity to stay at the hotel for a substantial discount. However, I am a shorts and T-shirt type of girl (though neat, not sloppy). Would someone wearing shorts be frowned upon or discouraged while passing through the lobby? The reason I even ask is that from the photos I've seen, it appears that it may be that kind of place . . .I usually stay at the Fairmont Miramar or, but thought a change of pace would be nice. Thanks in advance.

This is a very elegant, 5-star city hotel...right at the end of Rodeo Drive, therefore...most of the guests are rather chic....and stay there because they want to shop. However, this is California, where dressing casual is the norm...and I do not believe any hotel personnel would make you feel uncomfortable for being dressed in shorts, etc. Alot of guests workout, jog, etc too...so have fun!

Hi Alaida! Yes, the Beverly Wilshire is very elegant. Parking valets in full livery, ladies restroom attendant (=tipping). If you're going to wear shorts & a tee shirt in BV, make VERY sure you look really good in them! this is Bevery Hills, after all....

Have you seen the movie "Pretty Woman" with Julia Roberts? That takes place at the Regent Beverly Wilshire and it's fairly on-target with it's portrayal. Hope that helps.

Who care's what others think. Just be your self. My wife and I are T-shirt and shorts people. When we were at the R.B.W we made fun of the people who were over dressed.

Alaida,
Unless you're visiting in August or September, I think you'll be chilly in shorts and a tee.

As pointed out, the hotel staff is used to people walking through the lobby in sweats and work-out clothes. so I doubt you'd feel uncomfortable.

M.
