Red rooster and Harlem

A couple years ago we rented a house in Harlem with friends and had a very nice time visiting places mentioned in this article about Harlem by the owner of the red rooster restaurant. Starr's recommended miss Mamie's Spoonbread Too near St John's, which has great fried chicken.

Thanks - nice article. I really, really like Marcus Samuelsson. He is such a well spoken, breath of fresh air and seems to be a genuinely all around nice guy. A class act if ever there was one!

However, I was warned not to order fried chicken at Red Rooster by friends who done there often. I did anyway, a mistake. The test of our table had wonderful meals

Great article! I was at the Red Rooster for lunch on Friday - prix fixe - meatballs and cocoanut cauliflower soup and the beer flight were excellent.

While most of the people seamed to be locals on a lunch break, the man next to me was from Italy and he would only order what was recommended in the Italian Lonely Planet. All the food is good. Eat what you wish and visit the current exhibits at the Schomburg library while you are there http://www.nypl.org/locations/tid/64/node/144183
