Red Lion Hotel in Vancouver Washington
Any feedback on the Red Lion at the Quay on Columbia Street in Vancouver, Washington? Are the rooms near the pool noisy? What was your overall impression of hotel?

Some of the Red Lion properties have fallen on hard times, and the Quay seems to be one of them. Go to www.tripadvisor.com and type in "red lion vancouver."
My experience is that there is a very good reason if a motel's room rates are significantly less than those of what seem to be a very similar nearby property.

The only reason I would stay there was if I were in town to see the 4th of July fireworks and wanted someplace to sleep nearby so I didn't have to fight traffic and/or hunt for a parking spot. Other than that, I suggest you look elsewhere.

I have stayed here many times on business, not by choice. There's highway noise on one side and train noise on the other. Service at all the Red Lions is poor. Didn't used to be that way. Too bad. You might want to consider the Hilton Homewood Suites up river a couple of miles. There is also a nice new Hilton nearing completion in downtown Vancouver. I think they are booking soon.
