Recommendations for camping in SE Florida
After spending two winters close to Fort Myers Beach and enjoying it very much, we plan to spend time next year in SE Florida in our travel trailer. We need a pet friendly site, ideally only 2 or 3 miles from the beach. As we tend to do our own thing, we don't need lots of activities at the site, though we do like to have a pool. One area we are looking at is St. Lucie County. Your thoughts and suggestions would be much appreciated.

This is a very nice place in the keys for camping. It does get reserved very quickly.

Bahia Honda is a dream - be sure to reserve as early as possible because it's very popular.
Just north of Jupiter, this state park doesn't have a pool, but might work for you (pet are OK here):

And for something completely different, KOA has a campground (or is that "kampground?") with a pool near West Palm Beach next door to Lion Country Safari. How does your pet feel about roaring lions?

We have found two possible sites at a reasonable monthly rate in the Keys. They are Lazy Lakes at Sugarloaf Key (mile 20) and Breezy Pines at Big Pine Key (mile 30). Are you familiar with either of these sites and would you recommend them?

SusanMargaret, Sorry, I'm not familiar with either.
There are a number of posters who are located in the Keys, but they might not be looking at this thread or only have seen the first post and may not know you're thinking about staying in the Keys. I'd try re-posting with "Floria Keys" in the title. Good luck! It certainly sounds like fun.

321go Thank you for your responses. I have done as you suggest. We now have two possible, affordable, places to consider. We looked at the KOA, but it is more expensive than we would wish, though it does look lovely!
