Hi all,

I'll be travelling through Utah, Arizona, and Colorado next March, staying in in Hurricane, Page, Monument Valley, and Moab (3 nights, 4 nights, 1 night, and 4 nights respectively), then flying to Denver for 3 nights.

I'd really like to do an ATV Tour, having never done one before, and it feels like this might be the time to do it!?

At this stage it looks like I'll have the most time available in Page, and Moab, are there any recommended ATV Tour companies near there?

It'd be great to catch some great scenery while hooning around!

I had never heard the term "honing" so I googled it. I certainly hope you don't plan on "burnouts" and tearing up our beautiful southwest deserts��

Frequently see news reports in AZ of tragedies involving ATVs. Rethink this idea.

Tragedies occur with many things, but to me that says "take care", rather than "don't do it".

I respect others choices, however, I have lived in AZ and SW CO my entire life and I have great respect for my environs and have witnessed a great deal of negative impact over my lifetime. So, at risk of criticism for my point of view regarding ATVs, my "tip" would be there are so many great experience opportunities, including river rafting, kayaking, jet skis, motorized boating, hiking and much more, please reconsider going on an ATV tour.

Fortunately for Colorado in March most of the mountains areas will still be snow covered and save from idiots who like tearing up the country side. Could try snowmobiling.

Clearly I've hit a nerve. Please keep in mind that I'm a tourist and working under the asssumption that regulations are in place to protect fragile areas/ecosystems.

In any case, the point has now been made, and if you'd like to make recommendations on less controversial activities, please do so.

fmpden, the two areas jj mentioned for ATV were Page and Moab. Not much chance of snow in either area in March.

jj, mountain biking on the redrocks in Moab is quite popular. If I were to choose an activity other than hiking or just taking in the outstanding visual wonders, I would probably choose kayaking or rafting. You'll need to check if either is available in March. Personally, I would choose kayaking over rafting on a one day in Page. I know they offer 1 day float trips but I don't know if you could find the more interesting whitewater trips that are that short.

Now if you had at least a week and were going a little later, you could raft the Grand for an experience of a lifetime and far greater thrills than ever possible with ATVs or jetskis.

In rechecking the average temperatures for that time of year, I'm not sure about doing a watersport, as it seems like it's going to be a bit chilly!

And, rafting the Grand will have to wait for a future trip!

The "hooning" remark got you off on the wrong foot. I've never hooned or ridden an ATV but there are plenty of option for that in Moab.

Can’t help you with specifics as on our trip last month to Moab we rented two modified jeeps on our own. What I can tell you is we saw a couple of tours out there using UTV’s (like RZR’s) that were having a great time. They are not tearing up the desert and running over jackrabbits, rather all on established trails specific for this purpose. I don’t have a recommendation for a tour, but I can tell you our grown boys thought it was one of the best things we’ve ever done. Even my wife thought it was a hoot, highly recommend a tour or go on your own.

Geez some very judgmental folks. We went on a guided ATV tour between Glenwood Springs and Frisco, just off i-70. Sorry can't pull the name. Like DaveS said, we were on established trails and farm roads and for liability purposes they won't let you go nuts.

I like the look of a few options in Moab - they go on specific trails, which is fine by me!

Moab. We walked in without a reservation to one of the rental places on the main road in town. Highly recommend doing it as a tour - in our case there were 2 adults and 2 children and we were given two side by side Polaris rzr's. Tour was fun, fully on trails and one of my personal favorite things we did. Moab has outstanding options for outdoor activities - enjoy!
