Recommend a restaurant in Georgetown-DC?

I am looking for a great restaurant in the Georgetown section of DC for 4 adults...Some place not too dressy (business casual style) and not too touristy. Any suggestions?

Georgetown and touristy go hand-in-hand. What kind of food do you want?

By suggestion would be Bistro Francais. Very reliable and relatively inexpensive French food.

There's also 1789, but men will have to wear a jacket.

We didn't have any particular type of food in mind. Just didn't want to go to a chain where we could be anywhere. Someplace where we wouldn't feel rushed, either.

What's your budget? I like Cafe Milano but it can get a little pricey (though not as much as 1789).

North of the Georgetown area that most people think of (M and Wisconsin) is Chef Geoff's - it's closer to American University rather than the main G'town intersection.

Price range is really flexible; more concerned with the dress code being fairly casual. What would be the one restaurant you would want to go to if you were visiting for the weekend?

If I had to choose one restaurant, I probably wouldn't eat in Georgetown.

I'm partial to Chef Geoff's because it's in my old neighborhood..cozy interior, unpretentious, consistently good (not fabulous) food.

But if I could expand my neighborhood selection a bit, I would head to Penn Quarter and eat at Zaytinya.

We are traveling with friends and they want to eat in Georgetown...not my first choice either! I am the kind of person who likes to go wherever the best restaurant is!

"Where is uptown and downtown in DC?"

Interesting question. I consider "downtown" as the city core between Pennyslvania Ave (or the Mall) and probably P Street, from Foggy Bottom to Union Station/the Capitol.

I recommend La Chaumiere. On M Street in Georgetown, fireplace, great food. I go about once every two months.

I have to recommend Komi. It's a small restaurant, and I think business casual would be fine. I warn you though - it's very expensive, but it's worth every penny. I took my husband here for his birthday, and we are still talking about our meal.

While not directly in Georgetown--more Gtown adjacent--are Marcels and Dish, which are both in Foggy Bottom/the West End, which is right next to Gtown.
