Reception Dinner in Key West
We are having a sunset wedding at Fort Zach in April. The wedding party will be a small, informal one consisting of 10 - 12 people. We are looking for a nice place on the water, preferably steaks/seafood/cuban? I have looked at Hot Tin Roof, A&B Lobster House and Latitudes. We definitely prefer a place on the water. Any suggestions?

I would second Latitudes--we had dinner there in January. The food was luscious. We were with a large group of 20 and were seated inside with a view of the beach and water. Some people were seated outside on the beach. (And the boat ride to the island is quick).

Thank you. Have not looked at Louis but will. The officiator we are using said to veer away from Latitudes because it may take over 30 - 45 minutes to get everyone seated and food ordered.
I agree SusanCS, just looking at Hot Tin Roof it looks gorgeous.

redzin - I've been thinking more or less all day about your warning to steer clear of Latitudes. Though it wouldn't be my first choice, the ferry ride from the Westin to Sunset Key (where Latitudes is) takes only 8 minutes, and since reservations are mandatory, I can't imagine that it'd take more than a few minutes to seat your party.
Latitudes has been around a long time, and though our one experience there was wonderful, others have had varying results. On the other hand most reviews I've read within the past months have been very favorable. Before completely eliminating it as a possibility, I think I'd double-check exactly why you've been given that advice. 30-45 minutes to get seated and order seems like a very big exaggeration to me.

About service at Latitudes, I arranged the dinner in January that I referred to in my previous post. Since there were 25 of us, I had had several conversations with the restaurant about menu choices, where we would be seated etc. We had reservations and they were expecting us. When the ferry docked they were waiting for us on the pier and escorted us to our tables where drink orders were taken immediately and dinner service followed. There was a small problem with the white wine we had pre-selected (we didn't like it) and they quickly brought our second choice.
I agree with SusanCS--I would check with them about your concerns before you eliminate them from consideration.
At least for our group, it was a lovely evening.
