Reasonable Hotels on Maui
My wife & I are going to Maui 8-17 and have been trying for a condo swap, but with no luck for 4 months. We thought we'd better book a hotel just in case the swap doesn't materialize. We'll be looking at a reasonably priced hotel - not a luxury one. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Why not consider renting a condo, even if you can't do the swap? There are countless condos on Maui, especially in the Kihei and Wailea areas. My husband and I stayed at Nani Kai Hale in Kihei several years ago, and are returning in September and staying at the Sugar Beach Resort, another condo. The rates are FAR less expensive than booking a regular hotel room! If you check out the Web site shown below, you'll be able to get aerial views of practically every property along the beach, so you can judge for yourself whether they're really "oceanfront," as they usually claim to be. Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Here's another one for vacation rentals; most are condos with a few private homes or guest houses.

"vrbo" = for rent by owner

I should point out I do not own a condo nor have anything to do with the above website I offered.
It's just that we, too, are looking for a condo to rent and this is one I've found.
We try to rent them where ever we go on vacation as we've learned they offer so much more than a hotel room. Having a kitchen and more than just a single room is worth it to us.

Aloha Ezell, we've just returned from Maui and stayed in 2 condos. Word of advice, buy the Entertainment Book, Hawaii edition, and save half off your hotels and condos. We stayed at the Paki Maui, minutes from Ka'anapali, oceanfront condo for $86 a night. This is a smaller property but I would recommend it. Their condos don't have A/C but it wasn't necessary with the evening tradewinds. Our second condo was in Kihei, Kama'ole Sands Resort. This property does have A/C and is across the street from the beach ($88 a night). Both properties were clean and came with fully stocked kitchens. Have a wonderful vacation! Ü
