grantop is right. If you want to come in Dec. to see decorations etc., come just after Xmas. The 26th through the 30th are usually relatively inexpensive. Actually, usually after the 18th prices fall. Have a look. The very cheapest time is the first week in Jan. and the decorations are still up.
