Reasonable Accomodations in SF

I need to find accomodations for 2 people for August 19th and 20th. I want to try to keep it reasonable but still stay in an area that we can walk safely. Thank you for any help.

Call the Howard Johnson's at Fisherman's Wharf. It has been several years since we were there, but we found their price acceptable. We had an adequate room with a somewhat limited view of the waterfront, but we just wanted a clean place to sleep that was close to the action. And negotiate...ask for whatever discounts they have. Get a price from them; then call the HJ 800 # to see if they can do better.

Call San Francisco Reservations at 800-677-1550 they book over 200 SFO hotels at excellent rates.

San Remo Hotel at Mason Street, if you don't mind no TVs and shared bathrooms. It's the old restored Gianini (Bank of A) family mansion in North Beach. Wonderful walking and many little restaurants near Washington Square. The hotel is near the cable car turnaround. Otherwise the F. Wharf suggestion above is good. Or, the Wharf Inn on Mason is good as well.

Try to Hotel Juliana. It is a jewel.
