Raise the flag, I need a drink

Are there any hotel/resorts in Hawaii that offer this kind of service?

Hmmm, that particular service seems to be isolated more to the Caribbean.
I do use it here at home in the backyard in the summer however...

Sorry, but for those of us who don't go to Hawaii or sail, what does this mean?
Thanks

Upscale resorts use this by their pools and on the beach to signal a waitperson.

There's a resort in the Caribbean, called Petit St. Vincent, that even uses a real flagpole outside your cottage...you hoist different colors to indicate whether you need something or want total privacy. As Scarlett said, aahhh.....

Yes, this service is available at the Sheraton Maui in Kaanapali. I stayed there in November 2001 and little flags were available on the beach lounge chaises you rent. Not sure about other resort properties in Maui, but I would assume if the Sheraton had it, others likely do too. I'd suggest calling the resorts you're interested in to find out for sure.

Cheers,
Tracey

My drink flag just popped up outta the back of my ol' Steelcase ortho special!

It's gotta be 5:00 somewhere!
Cheers!

Ha ha Kal.

On Sat was prowling the home improvement stores nearby and stopped into TGIF for a couple of Rum Runners. Pretended we were in HI with the cloudy sky just outside the window. Had to pretend it was warm too!!

Fortunately didn't need the chair flags but it would have been safer with seatbelts, those bar chairs are high!!!!

Suuuz, Ahhhhhh. Take a small dab of Coppertone too and your PB will drop 40 points!

Have you tried Huki Lau in Sacto yet? In laws had last year and liked it. Said they had a flashback to Hawaii.

As for flag waving in Hawaii, I usually get up and get my own drink because with me, drinking on vacation is an aerobic endeavor!

Thanks, Tracey and everyone, for your comments. My husband and I are going to Hawaii this summer and he wants to be able to lie by the beach or poolside and relax!

Mel, to me your priorities are right on!!!

Most hotels have good poolside service so you often don't need a flag. We make a point of getting to know the pool waitress on the first day by providing generous tips. From then on we get great service!! Even at the Maui Marriott where I thought the pool service was not at all good we did better than most guests who constantly complained about the lack of waitresses.

Have a great time!!!!
