How is everyone making out with the heavy rain in Washington and Oregon?

Predicting 2-3" in New Jersey tonight with dire reports of potential flooding, but that's mere drizzle to what you all are reported as having.

Lots of flooding in the areas around Seattle---roads closed, some people stranded. According to the news this am, the town of Sultan is under 12" of water. The city of Seattle is itself fine, although some intersections are flooded. I see sunshine out to the west, so hopefully things will start to improve.

Rain fall has slowed, but the rivers are not expected to crest until later tonight/tomorrow. The same areas get some flooding every year, but not usually so early in the winter season and not as much water as they are getting now.

I read that we average 6" of rain in the month of November, and thus far, have already recorded in excess of that.

Here is Oregon, we are still getting the rain that moved south out of Seattle. On the coast, at Gleneden Beach, there are several homes that are in danger of literally dropping into the Pacific. Several coastal roads are closed due to flooding. We are in a Portland suburb, and I have to say I am glad our house is way up high on a hill (but not a steep hillside).

I think the warm temperature is part of the problem. The precipitation in the mountains is rain, not snow, so it adds to the swollen rivers.

My in-laws tell me that highway 101 is closed in parts along the Oregon coast. Where they are (McMinnville), it's wet but knock wood, no real problems.
Up in the Olympic Peninsula, several roads are closed, including the road to popular viewspot Hurricane Ridge.

People who live along the Sequim irrigation channel must have their hands full. When my in-laws had a property there, it was a chore keeping it cleared and open during regular rains...these current storms must make it a challenge.

I just saw footage of the Snohomish River in WA. That is where we used to live, so I really feel for them.

Talked to my sister last night who was on her way home from SeaTac. Her flight from Arizona had been delayed four hours! She said it was raining pretty hard.

No problems here in southern Oregon that I have heard of other than alot of wet feet. I was momentarily blinded when I saw the sun for the first time in what seems like a month however!
This is nothing compared to last January's onslaught.
