Rabbit Hill Inn

We will be in Boston next week and will have a couple extra days to kill. We were thinking of driving to Vermont and staying at the Rabbit Hill Inn. Anyone stayed there? Worth the money?

We stayed at the Rabbit Hill Inn this past Oct and loved it. It's in a very remote area...not real touristy so there isn't a lot to do as far as shopping and attractions but the area is lovely, right on the Conneticut river. There is a great old cemetery that we walked through with incredible old headstones and you can use the Rabbit Hill's canoe to take a leisurely paddle down the river. The price as I remember was $265 a night including dinner and breakfast and I thought it was very well worth it. Our room was very comfortable and our dinner was one of the best that we had in NE. I don't think you will be disappointed.

The Rabbit Hill Inn is one of the loveliest and most romantic I've ever visited. But, we're talking northern NH and VT here, which is rather remote and really not within a short driving distance of shopping, etc. The closest "larger" towns are St. Johnsbury, VT and Littleton, NH, which have a main street with shops, but are hardly a mecca of shopping, etc. Most people head for this area to get away from the shopping, etc. In VT and NH, your best bets for lovely inns with plenty of shopping and seeing and doing are North Conway, NH, and Manchester, VT. To be honest, next week is not the best time to be driving that far or vising those areas. Not only is it rather bleak this time of year, there could always be a serious snow storm that could halt or delay travel. You might want to consider an excursion to Lenox, MA or Sturbridge, MA, where there is plenty of shopping and seeing and doing, which are just under two hours from Boston and reachable by interstate highways nearly the entire route. Another nice excursion from Boston in the wintertime is Portsmouth, NH. The Sise Inn is lovely and within walking distance to a plethora of shopping, fine dining, etc.

The Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge is a fabulous place to stay in the wintertime. And, if you're a Norman Rockwell fan, the museum there is magnificent.

Hi Donna...Remember me? it's me Toni. You helped us with our plans to NE in Oct. **Listen to this lady as she definitely knows her stuff. The Red Lion Inn is a great idea. It's very history and you'll find lots of things to do nearby.

I have stayed at the Rabbit Hill as well and loved it. We did a day trip to Burlington (nice shopping) and Stowe. I think it took us @45 min to get there. Burlington is a nice town as is Stowe. You won't be disappointed with Rabbit Hill. Amazing food and fun stave puzzles!
