Quick! Sacramento Hotel Help!

We're going to spend 2 nights in Sacramento just because my husband's never been. My husband wants to see the Capitol area; I remember liking "J" street (back in '74, lol), so here's the question: where should we stay?!? We'd prefer someplace where we can park our car and not spend too much time using it. We'll be heading up from Yosemite on August 18th, so I know it's going to be HOT. Could use a hotel with A/C (duh) & just a tiny pool is fine to unwind.

Thoughts?

Oh - budget, uh, obviously prefer less is more but will go circa $200/night if necessary. And it will be the 3 of us (son heading back to Cal).

Thanks!

You might consider the Embassy suites near the river. They accomodate 3 adults nicely. You can get a rate under $200 using AAA or AARP (I'mnot saying anything about age I'm just saying..)

You can walk to the capitol from there, old town, K street mall including the IMAX.

You can take light rail to outlying areas if you need to.

Oh yes. Very near the capitol and other tourist areas. There is a pedestrian underpass that goes from old sac to the other side of the freeway to the plaza area. You may not feel comfortable using it at night - though I have always used it. You can walk toward the Tower Bridge instead and that will take you over the freeway back to teh Embassy/river without having to use the underpass.

I agree with Suzie. Embassy Suites is in a perfect location. Very close to old town with many restaurants and night clubs. You can also walk to Raley Field where the Rivercats (AAA team affiliate of Oakland A's) play.

Have fun.

Hi, I got the Sacramento Grand on Hotwire for $104 a night. It's on J Street. We will be arriving late tomorrow night. I can report back if you like once we get there. We'll be online during our trip.
