LOL, thanks for the morning chuckle! No, they're not open on Sundays.

Moise,

Somehow I feel you already knew the answer before you asked.

Is there some reason they can't buy their "alcohol" on Saturday, if they are going to be in SLC for the weekend?

If all they want is a beer or glass of wine with dinner in a restaurant, that won't be a problem for most places on a Sunday.

Yes you can bring a couple bottles in your luggage if you want, but a restaurant can't open it for you if it wasn't purchased in UT (meaning no UT liquor taxes have been paid).

I spent one day and one night in Salt Lake City. I had a devilish time even finding a store that sold beer not to say wine or spirits.

Moise, I live in Denver and am through DIA all the time and cannot remember seeing a liquor store in DIA. Not looking for one either but I am sure that I would have noticed one if there. Liquor store licenses in Colorado are highly restricted to single owners so you don't chain operations that you find in other states.

If your friends are really desperate and/or truly bored, they can drive the 150 mile r/t to Evanson just inside the WY border. Plenty of liquor stores there. Fireworks too. Open on Sunday.
