question for gyppielou
Aloha gyppielou!
I've followed your posts/advice for the past 3 yrs (and 3 visits to Hawaii)
Was hoping to get some advice from you for my 4th trip.
I'll be traveling with hubby and my parents and trying to nail down accomodations on Maui. Looking at Kihei (stayed in Kapalua last time, loved it, but for many reasons thinking Kihea would be more ideal this time around...) Please tell me all you can about Aloha Pualani. The website pics look amazing...and from what I've read this place sounds perfectly dreamy. So what can you tell me about the location...what is the beach like there? Anything worthwhile in walking distance? Did you utilize the outdoor kitchen?
Mahalo!

Aloha acaigirl,
I love Aloha Pualani's atmsophere. I loved using the outdoor kitchen and having the place to ourselves. I would also do a search to see what you can find comparable for the tarriff of 2 rooms at AP
Check out"Really nice bouthique-type hotel in Maui?" thread
And "G'Lou's affordable hawaiin holiday.
Those 2 threads discuss a great deal regarding the property.
Good luck!

<<I've followed your posts/advice for the past 3 yrs (and 3 visits to Hawaii)...>>
Expressing curiosity about (Hawaii) posts here has already gotten me in trouble... so I will ask you this gingerly...
You've followed posts here for three years, but never made a post here before today?
Anyhow, I, too am seeking high and low for info on the Aloha Pualani. Separate e-mail correspondence from gyppielou to me has been very nice, answering some questions and providing some reassurance.
Although you can click on her name to find the posts she mentions... the specific URLs can make finding them a little bit easier (particularly in the future, when someone may be reading this month hence)...

and
http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...1&tid=34464111
There seems to be info from at least three or four other individuals with personal experience/opinions on other travel forum websites.

Might it be that either one of these two other websites are actually better forum resources (for Hawaii) than here at Fodors?
Both seem to have more posts per day; easier to negotiate; easier to tell which replies come from a veteran vs. a newbie (wouldn't want to say, invariably, which can give better info to me, since I am a fellow Hawaii newbie).
Best wishes,
Rex

Thank you for responding, Gyppielou. After thinking more about location, we've decided to move our search to a home/cottage/villa type place in Paia or Upcountry. Have found some interesting and afforadable places so far, doing my "homework" and trying to narrow it down.
I've actually posted on here before, got locked out, had to change my screen name etc etc. It's been awhile and I'm not here regularly, so I didn't bother explaining that before.
But I'm sure I'll be back to post some q's on the places i'm looking at now...
mahalo!
