Question about Vegas shows?
Thanks for all your help on Las Vegas! I think we're going to do it just to say we've seen it. I was curious about a couple of shows in LV. Has anyone seen Jersey Boys or The Lion King? Would you recommend either of these shows? Thanks for the help!

http://entertainment.travelzoo.com/l...entertainment/ You may find a special deal at this website. My DIL saw the Believe show and the Beatles Show and liked both of them. I personally don't know about those two shows.
We saw Phanthom last time we were in Vegas - at the Venetian. It was good.

brats, did you stay at the Venetian? If so, how was it? I wanted to stay at the Bellagio, but sticker shock at their prices. Thanks for the link.
Thanks, guys for the feedback on Jersey Boys; we got our tickets!

VG: We have seen several Cirque du Soleil shows in LV - "O" and Mystere. Both were fabulous. Terry Fator also get great reviews.
Go to this website for discount codes:
www.smartervegas.com
Weekends and holidays will be most expensive, even with the codes.
Have you checked the tripadvisor board? There is a big LV fan base there.
Good luck.

I've seen both shows on Broadway - Lion King is 'different'. Quite good, as is anything Disney, but just 'different'. However, Jersey Boy's is absolutely fantastic, especially if you like the Four Seasons to begin with. I don't know anyone who has seen Jersey Boys, and not raved about it. Bearing in mind that this post is coming from a Jersey Girl.
Go see it, you won't be sorry that you did. It is fabulous.

Yes, Love is the one set to Beatles music. My wife is not a Beatle fan, I am, but still liked it better than O. FYI- the theaters in Vegas are especially built for Cirque and thus much better than the traveling versions (we've scene a couple of those as well). Another show for consideration is Blue Man Group. I enjoyed this show a lot more than I thought I would.

I'm coming in a little late on the conversation, but I've seen a lot of the shows so...
The Lion King is an interesting concept. The costumes were awesome and the performers are highly talented, but I found it to be the same as the movie, just longer. I can't fault the show, but I didn't like the movie much. There will be a lot of kids in the audience and it's long enough to have an intermission - a rarity for Vegas shows.
SiteC_er hit the nail on the head in regards to the cirque shows - the stages, theaters, etc. are built specifically for these shows so they give you a different experience. My favorites in that category are O and LOVE, followed closely by Ka. I'm not a fan of Mystere but everyone else seems to love it. In the same category (but it's not a true cirque show) Le Reve is also awesome - at the top of my list with O and LOVE. IMHO, Le Reve has the best theater (round stage/seating, big plush seats) hands down.
I haven't seen Jersey Boys, but have heard great reviews from people who have. And... in the recommended misc. section: Blue Man Group, Donnie & Marie (better than expected - lots of fun and just a little cheese), Terry Fator, and Phantom of the Opera.
Good luck - there's so many good shows to choose from!

There is a show where a guy does his version of the Jersey boys song "Walk like a Man". Very funny show. Larry G Jones performs at the Royal Resort on Convention Center drive.
Also for the 'Old School' lovers he has a Red Skelton impersonator as a special guest. Very funny show and great for all ages.

Volcanogirl - did you decide on a show? I sure wish Danny Gans was still around He was amazing.
I have to say that I am one of the folks that hated Ka - many love it but we really felt like it was a waste of money.

So far, we only have Jersey Boys - still trying to figure the rest out; there are so many options! I appreciate all the help you guys are giving me. I kind of want to spend a day seeing Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, etc. I think the only way we could do the Grand Canyon is if we did one of those helicopter tours there, and that might be too much $. I need to check on the prices.

The best GC tours would go to the south rim. Like this one:
http://www.looktours.com/air1.html which my brother and I took and was great. That company, and others have all-bus tours which would make for a long day but cost a lot less.
But I suggest that you skip the trip to GC and get good tix to a first-rate show, like O or Mystere. (I realize it is kind of absurd to recommend Vegas over the GC, but you will already be in LV). Le Reve is also a great show at the Wynn.
