Question about Big Island activity . . .
I'm going on a tour in a few weeks and I was wondering if anybody has been to Hualalai on the Big Island. We're going up 6,000' above Kailua-Kona and going for a hike.
Is it going to be cold?? I'm wondering what to wear and what to expect.
Thanks!

Sandy,
Go over to www.konaweb.com and go to the "Visiting the Big Island" forum and post there. They can answer your question.

Sandy, you'll want to remember that you are going from sea level to 6,000 ft. It will be cooler. A couple of years ago we went to Mauna Kea in January,(13,796 ft) and it was cold up there but not unbearable (50 degrees). Of course we're from Washington State and not used to real warm weather anyway. It's beautiful and I highly recommend a trip up there if you get the chance. Here's a great web site for Mauna Kea: http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/mko/visiting.htm and another one for Hualalai http://hvo.wr.usgs.gov/ Have fun. Kim
