I am hoping for some help from the native chicago folks...or perhaps some avid movie fans. I would like to know three or four movies that were filmed in chicago...showing the "El"...can anyone help?

thanks for the responses. I guess it does seem a strange request, matt. I am going to rent three movies featuring the "El"...give them to my daughter and her husband to watch and figure out the common thread to guess where their surprise vacation spot will be...I know, please don't blast me with how corny the idea is, it's too hot in texas for my brain to work any hrder! unless you guys would like to come up with some suggestions... I always welcome a good idea!

Pat: How about something a little more vague; all those movies are based and shot in Chicago, anyway, regardless of an "el" shot. They will guess it very quickly. Give your daughter and your son-in-law the following and let them try to figure out where they are going:

An onion
A book on architecture (get one from the library if you don’t have one)
A toy sail boat
A pair of those oversized glasses with the fake mustache on them
The box that frozen pizza comes in

To explain:
Chicago means onion in its native American language - (can't remember the specific tribe). Chicago is famous for its architecture, the beautiful Lake Michigan, Second City for comedy and pizza.

Or you could subject them to a couple of episodes of The Real World Chicago.

again, thanks for the great reponse! it will be hard to choose only three movies. if I don't say to guess anything about a vacation...just what is the common denominator in all the films...you still think too obvious? and I didn't know the "onion" tidbit...I think I'll use it as a bow on the gift! as for the other clues, I don't want them to think I'm springing for Italy! sounds very similar...I really am going to have to come to chicago!

The New Road to Perdition is not out on video yet, but was filmed in Chicago supposedly in the 1930s. It has a great shot down to LaSalle Street with the El in the background. There's another very pretty shot of the Wrigley building. Maybe movie tickets?

How about three movies starring a Chicago actor/actress? You could choose John and Joan Cusack and John Belushi.

About Last Night with a very young Demi Moore and Rob Lowe. A great 80's flick that I swear was written about me!! LOL!!
