the sun doesn't go down. the earth's orbital path around the sun essentially delineates its "seasons", and its daily rotation around its axis delineates daylight hours. the number of daylight hours vary from point to point on the planet depending on its orbital position.
what that all has to do with the cost of cigarettes in hawaii is beyond me! but the last i heard, the mormon influence in hawaii has resulted in a smoking ban.

The Earth moves in an orbit which is elliptical, with the sun a one foci.
The movement of the Earth around the sun covers equal areas in equal time.
The square of the time it takes a planet to orbit the Earth is equal to the cube of it's distance from the sun.
The sun doesn't go down in Hawaii and you shouldn't smoke.
It's bad for you.

Try www.weather.com and type in a zip code for where you are staying in Hawaii and it will give the time for sunrise and sunset.

Kepler: Pls. see Copernicus for the correct use of "its" ("it's" is a contraction for "it is". Don't confuse it w/ the possessive which is "its". I know this is a contant source of confusion b/c in the English language the apostrophe is used to denote possessive. But when it come to "its" there is no apostrophe! (Should I start a grammar site? Sorry but I just can't help it!) ( Copernicus: Why do you not use caps?)

john - your questions weren't vague. But your title was terrible. That is why you are getting all the "HELPFUL" answers.
Sorry, but "question" is about the dumbest title possible. You could be asking ANYTHING about ANYWHERE.
You should have included Hawaii, sunset and cost of cigarettes in your title, or at least "A couple of simple questions about Hawaii"
