Quebec/Montreal

Any suggestions for lodging, places to eat, sites to see with a local flair in Montreal and Quebec. I will be traveling there in August

Montreal is great! We went to university there and had a great time. We like Prince Arthur pedestrian area for bring-your-own wine greek tavernas. For site-seeing old Montreal (area near- Le Vieux Port) has lots of great buildings, museums, shops, and French Canadian Restaurants. GReat shopping everywhere. Do not have to speak french but it is useful to know direactions etc if driving on Freeways (East - est; West - Ouest; North - Nord; South - Sud). Mont Royal has a nice park and a great view of the city; there is a good art museum; if your like nature, there is a botanical garden and the unique biodome near the Olympic Stadium where you can take in a NL Baseball game featuring the Expos. For night life there are lots of spots. When we were living there Crescent and Bishop Streets had lots of stuff. St. Catherine St. is the major strip literally.

Hi,
I am from Slovakia, from Europe and I am going to Montreal in August. I would like to ask you where would you recommend me to stay overnight? Do you have any information concerning staying at the University of Montreal?
Thanks for your answer.

For lodging in Montreal, try Chateau Royale - not too expensive and in a nice location. Lots of great food - Pizzaziole (you guessed it, pizza), La Bouchon (bistro), Les Clubs des Pins (our favorite), Le Petit Ardoise (casual bistro), Molivos or Milos for Greek food (Milos is pricey). I really could go on and on - the food in Montreal is great.
