Puu Poa in Kauai ok?

My husband and I are planning a tenth anniversary trip to Kauai in April of 2004. We've reserved a condo at Puu Poa on the fourth floor, but I'm getting nervous about whether I did the right thing. He wants to stay on the north shore, and the Princeville Resort is way overpriced for a hotel room. Puu Poa is next door, it seems, and we'd have more room, and could walk to the Princeville to eat. I also entertained the secret beach cottages, but was having a hard time justifying the extra expense. But we WOULD be more private there (instead of with the masses at a condo complex). Also looked at houses in Haena, but ultimately settled on the Puu Poa unit. I cannot find ANY feedback on this complex other than that in the ultimate guidebook. I would guess that the complex is a bit old, as it did mention that most units had been recently refurbished. Anyone have comments? I can still cancel and move at this point.
Thanks.C

Haven't stayed there, but I walked by while at Pali Ke Kua next door. For a Princeville condo, I don't think you can do better. The units are all right on the bluff with great views, and they look like they are quite large. There's a short walk down to secluded Hideaways Beach, with good swimming and snorkeling.

Personally I would prefer a house in Haena, but these seem like exceptionally nice condos.

Agree with JayH - we too just stayed at Pali Ke Kua in September. Puu Poa is right next door to them and you cannot get any closer to the Princeville Resort. Don't worry - its a beautiful area and the condos look first rate with an awesome view.

We are also going to those condos in April 2004. What is the weather like?
Is it windy? Rainy? If it isn't too nosey, how much are you paying for your unit? Ours is asking $1750.00 per week for 2 br, 2 bath unit. $200.00 extra for four people instead of two + taxes.

We just got back from Puu Poa (got married on Ke'e beach!) and it was wonderful! You will be overlooking the ocean in a beautiful area. You're right, you can walk to the Princeville and it's an easy drive further North (we LOVED Hanalei) or South. We did not encounter any "masses" while there. Our lanai doors were open constantly and we never heard anybody and after a long day in the ocean we would go to the pool in the evening and most nights we were by ourselves. Our unit was nicely updated and had all the "gear" we would need for our daily adventures (tons of towels, beach mats, coolers, etc) - so much more convenient than a hotel! We will definitely go back. It's really an amazing place...go and have a great anniversary.

Thanks everyone, I feel better now. We're paying $1600 for a week. Up to 4 people, though it's just the two of us. There is a $150. cleaning fee and tax, or course. I think all the units are within a few hundred dollars of each other.
