We leave Friday for the Turks & Caicos for our first visit to an island that is suppose to have some of the best beaches in the world.Snorkeling is off the beach in front of the resort. Needless to say I'm excited. There are not suppose to be any hurricanes in sight

My first long trip since retirement and a retirement gift from my company, no less. I'll be traveling about 40 days with most of it taken up by a AMTRAK-ViaRail tour from SLC to Sacramento to Seattle to Vancouver to Jasper to Prince George to Prince Rupert and back again. Leaving October 14th.

Most of you probably already know because you've helped me plan it to the exact detail for the last 6 months. I'm taking my mom, 2 aunts, WWII Veteran uncle and cousin to a weekend in D.C. and two weeks of leaf peeping down Skyline Drive, Blue Ridge Parkway and Great Smoky Mountains.
Counting down the final 15 days!

October must be escape month. We are headed for four days in Las Vegas -- our first trip there in about six years. We have friends heading for Bangkok and Ireland and family journeying to Disneyworld and Hawaii. That's not even talking about the cousin who rented out her house and is spending the year traveling the country in an RV.
Enjoy all your trips.

To Traveling Mom,
What do you want to know about Yosemite? We've gone on the average of once a year since 1977, sometimes we skip a year and sometimes we go more than once. We do avoid the summer because of the crowds.

Claro!
Just returned from my house in San Miguel de Allende, MX after 6 weeks of wonderful time and imersion in the history, culture and language.
Spent most of Jan in the USVI and BVI - disappointing ex: the diving!!
May in San Diego and "Baja" was not great. After 2 weeks in San Miguel in June, had to go to the VERY EXPENSIVE UK for younger son's marvelous wedding @ Hambleton Hall and had a great time in NW Portugal and Galicia after same -all Portuguese speak English, but no Spanish and the Celtic/Castilian dialect of Galicia is mostly incomprehensible to a MX Spanish speaker.
October will be spent intermittently in Horseshoe Bay, TX and (unfortunately) Dallas getting my house ready for sale.
I'll also be back and forth to SMdA, MX dealing with a new construction there.
Planning to finally get to Sicily in December - great 1st retirement year!

Going to Lancaster, PA for 3 days conference in mid/late October which will undoubtedly include a trip to the outlet stores
Had to turn down a trip to St. Paul, MN the last week of October b/c of the above conference....would have meant too many days out of the office in a row
Hopefully that offer will come back around soon!
