It is a drive, 2 hours, but Acoma is the best one to see.

I agree about Acoma, a fascinating place and experience. But if you go for any reason up toward Las Alamos, it would be interesting by contrast to stop in at San Ildefonso, which is extremely low key. I wouldn't do SI unless I were also doing Taos or Acoma, though.

One of the things I loved at Acoma was the Tiwa guide dissing on the treacheries of their traditional enemies, the Apache and the Navajo. It's just like the Serbs, Croats, and Bosniaks, no forgiveness for things that happened 400 years ago!
