Recommendations for hotels near the Honolulu airport?

We'll probably have a 7 1.m. flight home from Honolulu and want to be fairly near the airport. However, the reviews I've read on tripadvisor.com are pretty negative for the hotels listed, and I wonder whether someone can suggest an alternative.

"We'll probably have a 7 1.m. flight home from Honolulu and want to be fairly near the airport."

Evidently a typo.

Is it 7am or 7pm?

Are you staying on Oahu for just one night?

There are just 3 hotels at the airport. None get good comments. Waikiki is not more than 30 mins. taxi (or shuttle) ride away, with a huge variety of interesting places to stay.

Even for a 7am flight, I would stay in Waikiki and have the hotel front desk arrange a very early morning shuttle or cab (and could have a pleasant last evening in Hawaii).

Hello Underhill, I agree with suze, take a taxi to the airport. First of all you will not lose time changing hotels for the one night and you can as suze said, have one last lovely evening. At least that is what my husband and I always did. And enjoy beautiful Hawaii!

We're actually renting a house out at Kanoehe for 5 nights, staying in Waikiki for the night of our arrival and the night before we leave. I got a fairly good deal at our favorite, the Outrigger Waikiki, as it turns out. We can take the Roberts express shuttle bus to the airport--now that the flight leaves at 8 a.m. instead of 7:00.

Hi, LoveItaly--nice lunch we had!
