i would highly recomment Atasca in Cambridge. There are actually two locations very close to each other, one being the original and smaller one with great atmosphere/character, and the larger newer one which is a little more sleek, but has great outdoor dining. i wouldn't worry about it being in Cambridge, they are both just over the Longfellow bridge from Beacon Hill, and are in reality, as close distance wise to Beacon Hill as the Back Bay is, definitely less than a mile from downtown Boston.
