I live in Portland and I find Kimamom annoying to the extreme. Scarlett is right - you really need to let other people express their opinions without debating each and every one that differs from yours. Again, let it go.

FWIW - I've been to clarklewis and I did not find it to be all that. And it was noisy and uncomfortable.

Is Kimamom going to Paris? Poor folks on European board!

Oh, wait, maybe not poor, maybe they need some fun in their dull lives too.

Welcome to my world, Scarlett. I'd take kim's advice and stay out of it, at least as far as she's concerned. I'm ashamed that I didn't/haven't.

"These boards are all about opinions, yes!" From your own mouth (keyboard), kim. Trouble with you is that you think yours is the only one that counts.

Scarlett: pdxgirl, what did you order? You may want to try it at lunch when it's not so noisy, but then Bluehour is very noisy and we had a wonderful dinner there. I know Scarlett didn't care for that place, but that really doesn't surprise me at all. Just a difference of opinion.

Scarlett, I think you should stick to places like the Red Star Tavern and you'll be a happy camper, no offense! ***kim***

I did like Bluehour, just thought the food was ordinary.
But from the way some people post here and on Chowhound, maybe food means more to them than it does to others.
Thanks beachbum. I will try to take that advice. I just felt sorry for her being compared to the San Jose weirdo and thought if she could only control herself..you now, sort of a slap to wake up!
But I will stay out of the fray from now on, let the rest of you enjoy her

Well now, is it time to call for
a vote ? Then we would have at least
been democratic about kicking kim
off the island. Just my opinion.

LOL razzle!
kim, one last thing, ( I promise!)
Don't say "no offense" when that is exactly what you meant. At least have the B*lls to be offensive. . without the little smiley faces. Otherwise known as Passive/Aggressive behaviour.

Kim - If you recall correctly I said it was a long wait at clarklewis WITH a reservation. And thats all I have to say about clarklewis.

Scarlett - Totally agree about Blue Hour. Food is decent. Seems overpriced and basically just a 'be seen' kinda place. Similar to the bar at Oba...lots of cute young women looking for rich older guys.

By the way - anyone have opinions on Pho Van or Sungari Pearl? Thinking of trying one this weekend.

Okay-- heres my FF rant:

I am so sick of all our posts being questioned by miss **** ***

They're even tired of her on Chowhound. She does the same thing..disagrees with opinions, then keeps coming back with her interrogations..."but what did you eat", "Where did you sit", etc, like posters have to defend opinions.

I think Scarlett hit the nail on the head with her passive agressive diagnosis!!

For the record... I have stayed at both 5th Ave ( many times)and Riverplace (once, and it was so bad, the manager gave me a full refund without my even asking).

I have also eaten dinner and lunch Clarklewis. The menus are different (heck, evey night is a different menu there!)the serving style is different, and the chairs are too high for the tables at either meal.

We had to wait for our table, but not too long after our reservation time. That said, I like the food a lot.

I really believe that You know who is a desparate housewife in Clovis..does all her travelling on the web. You'll notice all but a couple of her recs are for the exact same places. The rest are "we plan to go there in March" or "my teenager thought the food at _____ (fill in the name of a nice restaurant) was fabulous" I mean how amny times do we have to hear about DS's dnner at Portland grill. And who cares what he thinks, unless he is posting here?

BTW-Can you imagine moms posts once the kid starts planning his reception????

sks,
We've been to Pho Van in Beaverton Town Center several times, and have always enjoyed the meal. Admittedly, it's the only Vietnamese place I've been, so I can't compare it to any other. In my opinion, it doesn't hold a candle to a place like Typhoon, but not nearly the sticker price either.

Can't help with Sungari Pearl.

Has anyone been to Murata lately? Are they still serving fugu? I remember the first time we went there, they had menus only in Japanese, not English. A good sign, I guess.
We used to like the sushi and bento lunches at the Japanese restaurant down the street from Nordstroms. The food was good and inexpensive even though the service was bad enough to make you want to pull your hair out--on more than one occasion, my husband would be completely finished with his meal before I was served my first course. But I was fond of their salmon teriyaki bento lunch and yellowtail rolls and the food *almost* made up for the bad service.

It seems to me that the perfect life thing is fabricated. Sort of like muffin, but not as funny. If not, then it sounds pathological. And in that case, arguing with it won't cure it.

If this thread gets too personal, the editors will pull it. Remember the words of Davy Crockett.

"Remember the Alamo?"

What did Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier, say?

LOL, yes, all I can think of is the words to the song!
Davey, Davey Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier!
I used to love him, btw- I wonder if that is why I like Parker Station Pinot Noir
(how is that for a varied subject posting!?)

I thought Davey Crockett's most famous words were "where the hell did I put that raccoon again?"
