I'm going to a wedding next week that takes us to Seattle...and then we're in Portland for about three more. So I will have seen the sights of both -- and now have an unplanned business trip that can have me flying out of either city. What I'm hoping to find is a moderate (~$180 or so) hotel with a spa in it that's within either city (or with public transport is close to an airport). I'll be a woman on my own and am looking for bliss, relaxation after a busy and fun few days getting to know the Northwest who folks from the area...but I'll want the last 24 to be on my own.

Any and all ideas would be fantastic...thanks in advance!

I favor The Mayflower Park Hotel in downtown Seattle, but it doesn't have a spa. The hotels down at SeaTac aren't very interesting, so I don't think you'd want to stay near the airport. It's only 1/2 hr. max. from downtown and easily reached by taxi for ~$30.

There are day spas and various salons all over downtown, you could find one of those nearby. That and a few nice meals would make a restful time.

The downstairs bar off the lobby at the Mayflower is a very comfortable place for a drink or light meal solo.

It may be tough to find something in either Seattle or Portland that has a spa (which tend to be the more upscale hotels) and are in your price range. Hotels in Portland are slightly less expensive than Seattle so you may have better luck there sticking to your budget (there's an Aveda spa at the Hotel Monaco in Portland and you may be able to get a room there for under $200).

I agree with the suggestion of the Mayflower Park, it's a lovely hotel, but unless you're here early next week (it's not very busy early next week through the 4th), rooms there are going to be above $200. If you do opt to stay somewhere in downtown Seattle that doesn't have a spa in-house, I really like Ummelina day spa, which is just a block and a half from the Mayflower Park.

I love Aveda spas! Anyway, if you could get the Monaco in Portland in your price range I'd go for it. If not, I like the Mayflower suggestion.

You could catch the #11 Metro bus out end-of-the-line to Madison Park. Spa de Lago is very nice for facials, massage, or pedicure. Cactus is a great restaurant around the corner. Nice park and beach along Lake Washington right out front.

Hi, we have stayed in the Monaco Portland many nights, the most recent about 2 months ago. The spa is a great feature, they come to your room..look at the web site and see what they offer.
I know we paid more than $200 a night but there are offers at the hotel, call the desk direct to book and ask. Also, look at www.pova.com , you can find promotions there too.
I love the hotel and always feel pampered staying there..

I'd stay at the Inn at the Market in Seattle.
You might spend a little more but you get alot more..water views, location at Pike Place and the can arrange you Spa for you and other treats...
