Portland - Old Port NEED LODGING

Hi, I've been to Portland a long time ago and want to stay right in the city, I believe they call it Old Port with the cobblestone streets and restaurants/bars/shops all within walking distance. Any suggestions on a hotel for 1 nite for my husband and I to enjoy our anniversary nite out. Also, any good restaurants? Nothing too expensive please.

Look at TripAdvisor.com for the list of recommended hotels for Portland. I know there's Hilton Garden Inn down at the Old Port - location is ideal (right across from the ferry terminal), although I'm not sure it's the kind of romantic place you'd want for celebrating an anniversary. The Eastland Park Hotel is also in a good spot, not right by the water but still in the heart of the Old Port.

Hi. There is a hotel on Fore Street, close to the water called the Portland Harbor Hotel that you might want to consider. My husband and I are staying there next Saturday - this our second visit and we love it there. The cost is $229 for the night...not sure if this is in your price range, but I think it is well worth it, esp. for an anniversary celebration. Good luck! http://www.portlandharborhotel.com/

The Old Port isn't far from the Portland Jetport (airport), maybe a 10 minute ride. The Hilton has a shuttle; while waiting on Commercial St. by the ferry terminal while visting Portland in August, I was right across from the Hilton and saw the shuttles coming and going. I remember thinking that the Hilton would be a great location at which to stay in Portland.

Be sure and book the Hilton Garden Inn on Commercial St. Otherwise you'll be at the airport.

We just returned from Maine and spent our last night at the Portland Harbor hotel. It was very nice. Had dnner at a favorite restaurant in Portland, Fore Street, which is a short walk down from the hotel. Cinque Terra, also near the hotel, has been written up in Down East magazine.
