Pompano Beach to Ft.Lauderdale NO CAR needed
So here I am back from Pompano Beach Palm-Aire Fairfield Resort.
We stayed in from March,27 to April,6.
What can I tell you, Fairfield lives up to their promises by keeping
their properties in immaculate shape and I am very pleasantely surprised.
In our 1bdrm we had spa in a bedroom next to the bed! Shower where huge as if
5 people can shower at the same time. Huge living room, huge full size kitchen,
brand new furniture, dishes were better then those I have at home (just kidding).
2 TV sets, 2 balconies...whole 9 yards.
Also 4 swimming pools with a slide and resort activities all the time.
So we did not had to leave Resort if we didn't want to.
But as you know we did want to leave Resort and the trick was to get around without a car.
Here is for you, Patrick...
As I said before (and was simply ridiculed for) - we managed to have a great vacation without renting a car!
Here is HOW in details.
Resort had a shuttle services and by the way it only took us 15 to 20 minutes to get to the beach.
Not 40 not even 30, Patrick!
I am still very puzzled about why people were telling me it will take an hour to get to the beach and were
almost horrified by my desision.
Airport limo - $80.00 round trip tips included
We went to the beach twice - free shuttle
we went on Miami Beach day trip - no car needed
so already 3 days put of 10 we didn't had to have a car.
Taxi to a Butterfly World (awesome park) - $60.00 round trip tips included
Taxi to Water Taxi (what a trip, beautifull) - $70.00 round trip tips included
Festival Market trip - $80.00 round trip tips included
Ride to Port Everglades for 1 day Bahama cruise - $80.00 round trip tips included
Now check it out: We spent $370.00 on taxis.
So being upset about people yelling in my face that there is "nowhere to go" and "nothing to do" in Pompano
I went shopping for 11 days car rental, guess what? It would cost me over $300.00 plus gas plus parking.
So I saved headache to my husband who actually sat down and enjoyed everything we enjoyed instead of being lost,
mad and nervous about getting "there".
Also South Florida was NOT horribly hot and sticky as my fodorite friends were predicting.
It was 75 to 85 breezy every single day.
So what I had learned is to listen to positive and disregard negative advises unless you really suspect that something
might go wrong on your vacation and need reassurance. Otherwise watch out for advisers.
P.S. btw old Jewish people living in condos at Palm Aire not Palm Aire Resort, close but not quite there...

Zaina, I'm glad you had a good time and feel it worked out for you.
You asked for what "WE" thought. Many of us told you.
In the future if your mind is already made up, don't ask for opinions.
Again, I'm happy you had a good time. I would not. Sorry, simple as that.
I would be horrified to pay $370 for several trips in a taxi. I like the freedom of a car, you don't. That's fine.

Freedom of driving-while-looking-at-the-map is not apealing to us.
I actually did get great advises, so I will ask for opinions because all except few were very helpfull and thanks for it.
And in future try to give some people credit, dear Patrick.
It is so funny how would you be horrified to pay for a cab and not horrified to pay SAME money for a car that would be parked still while you are going on trips...beats me

Oh, I see milemaker what you mean. I had to pay, yes, but having a car - does it mean not taking tours?
I would never learned so much as I did by listening to a tour guide. So...having a map and a car I would still took a trip.

Funny, it seems to me that you really had no sound advice to give on that other thread - only a snotty comment that the poster shouldn't go (lol or not). I'm not stalking you - you resorted to name calling - I'm just not letting you off the hook.
By the way, I would like to know more about your comment: "btw old Jewish people living in condos at Palm Aire not Palm Aire Resort, close but not quite there..."

Sometimes you do not have a sound advise to give but you feel...urge to type...so you do and if there is a code of conduct where it says it is against the law - bring it on! and also do not forget to bring on where it says 'seetheworld' is appointed to a position of o forum cop since 'xxxx-xx-xx' (just kidding LOL)
