Mrs. Bucket, After seeing you and Mr. Bucket through the peep hole at that B&B in England I swore it off for good!
Patrick, now that debate club thing makes sense. When you finally understood how they made the peep hole you changed the premise! You and my brother would go on for days on end.
LOL

Oh dear! All the peephole remarks! And I'm about to go on another business trip!
Upon getting to my room, I scan the floor, bed and bathroom for cleanliness, find a clean chair to drop my luggage on, check the closet for bugs, open the curtains, check my windows and look out, and make sure my safety lock works. I do this no matter how posh a hotel I'm staying at. I also turn the a/c full blast to freshen up the air in the room. Then I check out the emergency exits, walk to the elevators and out the door to explore the town. I unpack after I've done exploring, unless I have suits with me.
It's just a routine I've picked up after traveling on my first business trip when I was 20.

If I am staying longer than one night I unpack and stash the suitcase(s) under the bed or in the closet. More room, better organized. I put things in drawers exactly in the same order as at home. Retentive? Yes, comma, but it enables me to enjoy the trip, sort of like leaving a clean, laundry-free house.

Maybe a new topic should be started called "Favorite Peepholes" on both the U.S. and the Europe board, so for those wanting rooms with peepholes they will know what hotels and motels offer this amenity, and those who don't want them will know where not to book. Sort of like what to wear and what not to wear threads.

We check out the room, since my hubbie rarely likes first choice in rooms or tables. He then completely unpacks, then we get out and explore the vicinity as much as possible. Can't keep the boy in one place long!
I would like a thread to report places where "peepholes" and other unsavory stuff has been found at hotels and restaurants. That would be useful information for travelers. We have a story about a B&B in Washington State that still gives me an upset stomach to this day.

What a crazy thread - it made my day! I guess I'll join the others in checking the room for peepholes from now on.
Before the peephole info, though, I would always unpack, make sure everything works (a/c, toilet, phone, tv/remote, etc). Then I'm off to the beach - most all of my vacations are to beachy locations. Of course I have to stop along the way to sample some of the "beverages" of the area.

LOL Gail, next time I am bored, I'll do the same!
There is a long thread on "other", something like "do you travel with your own bedsheets". I think we should start a "do you travel with your own drill" thread

mm- I was rolling my fattie ass on the floor after reading your post!
Peep holes, lord a mercy- if you have ever used a gas station restroom, you have probably been exposed to peepholeism. Don't even get me started on two way mirrors.

We usually got out to check out the surroundings like the pool, beach, ocean, the view, shopping, etc... But, from now on, I'm going to check for those peepholes!!! Stayed at the worst hotel ever this past summer: Sunscape, Puerto Adventuras, Mexico. Everything was broken...air, safe, tv remote, refrige., dirt bathtub, mold on the walls. It was so nasty I'm thinking it probably had peepholes too! The staff was NOT Nice and maybe they enjoyed themselves with peepholes...Mmmmmm?
