Poipu airconditioned hotels cheap?
I know this is such an old question but I am not finding the answers I need in the archives, well under a quick search anyway. Anyone know cheap lodging that is airconditioned and near the water in Poipu. I am looking to prices similar to hotels in Kapaa. Maui Islander and the Kapaa Sands both have great rates looking for this in Poipu. Sorry to be so redundant with this question.

In Poipu there are not as many hotels as there are condos or timeshare facilities. There's the sheraton and the Hyatt. The Embassy is a time share. Both the Sheraton and the Hyatt are out of the price range you identified. Are you also looking at condos?

Hi Kelly, We were in Poipu last Sept and had a nice condo right on the ocean but it had no air conditioning. We didn't seem to have a problem with that as there was a ceiling fan in all the rooms. I looked at many condos in preparation for our trip and found that pretty much air conditioning was not available at the condo places. Our condo was expensive but others like Prince Kuhio and Kuhio Shores cheaper but again no air.
Good luck Kelly.

yes I kind of figured Suzie. I am having trouble even finding availabilty. I have a place already but was considering cutting back on cost. Think I may just stick with the Hyatt. Good to know that the breezes are steady in Poipu I always expect it to be hotter in August out there.

The Beachhouse was the best for us. We had reservations during the sunset hours but the sky was not going to provide a great sunset that evening so the bar cleared out and left the most awesome table available for us. When the hostess showed up to seat us we asked if our table would be as well located as the one we were sitting at in the lounge and she said no so we ate dinner in the bar. The waitress was great and the meal was very good. Had the Bananas Foster which was served in a pastery that was just oustanding. This was in Sept though when not too many people were traveling so it wasn't really crowded anywhere.
Would not recommend the mahimahi at Tidepools, should have had the ahi. Liked Bennecke's also. Husband had a great meal at House of Seafood (steak) but the service died after the entree and we couldn't beg our way out!
If you have only one expensive night then go with the Beachhouse.

Have you written about the Bananas Foster here before. Someone here wrote about it and I have been dying to try every since, even looked up a recipe for it over the internet. Only problem is that we will be in Poipu that first night and I am usually full with airline food but we do get in at 12pm so that should give us some space for Beachhouse at 6pm.

I've probably writte about it before. I mentioned it on the Rants and Raves Restuarant Section. Someone else panned it there though. Must have had a bad night. Oh well that does happen. Local French restaurant here prepares it table side so I notice lots of butter, rum and sugar!
