Please tell me Budget is ok for car rentals...

My bid of 24.00 was accepted by Budget for Denver. The best rate I could find otherwise was 29.00 (or so) on Hotwire.
Saved a little extra...
BUT I have never, ever rented from Budget.
I am a National, Avis and Hertz gal.
Is it horrible???

I find that you can get cheaper prices than what you see on Hotwire by going directly to the car rental company's site. I rented an SUV last week from Thrifty. Saw it on Hotwire for $33, then went to Thrifty.com and booked he same thing for $26.

When our flight was cancelled from Chicago to Green Bay, our membership with budget got us a one way rental with absolutely no problem. We'll always rent from them.

I don't like Hotwire/Priceline for cars, the savings aren't great enough to warrant the gamble that you are taking. You pay even if you don't show up. You can't change when a better deal pops up.

Budget is now affiliated with Avis so hopefully they're improving. I would love to hear about your experience after your trip. If they've gotten A LOT better since I wrote them off 3 years ago, I might give them another try. I think it depends on the location, they vary, and apparently Denver is a decent one. Hope so!

We have used Budget for about 90% of our car rentals for the last 20 years and we have never had a problem. We have rented them from airports all over the USA and in all cases everything went well. You should have no problem.

Budget is one of the major national chains -- Hertz, Avis, Thrifty, National, Enterprise, Budget. I'll use whichever one gets me the best rate - and Budget is just as good as the rest and better than some.

We had a great service from Budget last year.We had a flat while staying the night in the Outer banks and after a call they send a brand new car from Norfolk all the way to our hotel for replacement( 2 hour drive).I think Budget is actually part of Avis.Paul
